Cookies

StatCharts web application uses session cookies that are erased when the user closes the web browser. We use session cookies to temporarily remember user interface settings and current search parameters such as course type, course presentation venue: country and city, course presentation language of instruction, scientific discipline, course provider type and course provider name.
Session cookie: The session cookie is stored in temporary memory and is not retained after the browser is closed. Session cookies do not collect information from the user's computer.
Current session cookies: StatCharts application uses following session cookies (if set): a) Course type (masters, phd, cpd); b) Language of instruction (e.g. English, German, French etc.); c) Provider type (University or Non-University); d) Scientific Discipline or Area (e.g. Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Biology etc.); e) Presentation country (country where course presentation will take part); f) Presentation city (city/town/venue where course presentation will take part); g) Course ID (course ID for the details view); h) Data set (data set index; default value 0 - the latest; 1 - chronologically previous one).
Settings: User interface settings shown in a binary form. Default value is 10000. Ones (1) mean switched on and zeros (0) mean switched off. The following user interface settings are in use: a) Filters (search filters - first bit, default value is 0); c) Options (view options - second bit, default value is 0); b) Search examples (third bit, default value is 0); d) Show Chart (display results graphically - fourth bit, default value is 0). e) Bigger font (fifth bit, default value is 0);
Google Analytics: We don't use at the moment web analytics. But in some browsers, i.e in Internet Explore, Safari, you could nevertheless sometimes find cookies which start with _ga and _utm: These are used to distinguish users and for Google Analytics. They look like e.g. _ga=GA...; _gat=...; _utma=...; _utmc=...; _utmz=...
