Description
A molecular structure editor (molecule editing tool) for web pages, based on Flash technology and related methods (JavaScript functions) is presented. FlaME (Flash Molecular Editor) is a Flash (single file) application for structure input on web pages, e.g. for database queries or property calculations. The tool can be easily incorporated in such pages as shown by several examples. These applications demonstrate the communication between FlaME and HTML elements on a web page, using Publishing and Exporting methods of Flash. This communication is realised through simple JavaScript function calls. The functionality of FlaME was inspired by the well-established Java-based molecular editor, JME. At present, FlaME may be regarded as a feasibilty study, but it already offers all essential capabilities for structure input and depiction.
